How I Spent Week 3…
Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve been up to:
- I finally preordered the 6th Harry Potter book. Yeah, it has been available since January, but I like to procrastinate. I can’t wait for July 16th (the day it better arrive on my doorstep). I just finished rereading the 5th one to get in the mood. They are great books, very fun to read, and July 16th better hurry up and get here.
- I saw that SC Justice O’Connor was retiring at 10:20AM, when it came over the Bloomberg machine. That was three minutes before Drudge had the sirens blaring. Too bad I can’t blog from work….
- I think I am finally adjusting to getting up at 5:30AM. As long as I get somewhere in the vicinity of six hours of sleep the night before I am not a walking zombie on my way to work.
- I don’t have a prediction for the new Supreme Court justice, but I hold out hope that the person will be a strict constructionist and will actually follow the Constitution…
- Also on that subject, I really don’t have a problem with a justice’s position on Roe V. Wade. I think there are more pressing national issues to worry about at this particular moment, and we should not be getting bogged down over a 30 year old court decision once again. Let’s save that fight until after we kill (defeat/destroy/sweep into the ash-bin of history) all of the terrorists, please.
- I’m off to see War of the Worlds with the CCNY group. I have no expectations for this movie, so hopefully it will be at least slightly entertaining. With the exception of that new zombie movie, there is really nothing out there that I want to go see. I probably will go see the new Willy Wonka movie, but I have to admit, Johnny Depp’s voice is reaaaallly freaking me out in the preview.
I should start keeping some kind of diary regarding work. The stuff that goes on there is too funny and most people wouldn’t even believe it, but I still want a record somewhere.
Before I run off, I highly recommend everyone check out the Penn and Teller Bullshit episode on Gun Control. If you can’t catch it on TV email me and we’ll set something up. (pgorta_@_gmail_._com - take out the underscores) Of course it is very pro-gun ownership (which makes me happy) as Penn is a libertarian (who knew?), but the show in itself is very funny too. One of the experts profiled on the show is John Lott from the American Enterprise Institute, another reason for taking a look at it. Check it out!
