Ever Mr. Modesty.

Claudio won a Truman Fellowship!

He hints at it below, but everyone should know!

I think this might put my 2020 presidential run in jeopardy…. :o )

Congrats Claudio!

Just My Luck…

Filed under: Rants — Claudio @ 9:57 am

I get into the New York Times, recognized in an ad placed by my school for winning the Truman Scholarship (oh, yeah, by the way, I got it!), and my school misspels my name.

Check it out, page A11 of today’s NYT. Upper right hand corner.

Whatever, at least I got in the Times again!

Claudio

UPDATE:
I just did a telephone interview with a reporter for the New York Daily News. Their going to send a photographer to take my picture tonight as I attend a CUNY Honors College event at the Museum of Natural History.

All glory to God!

UPDATE AGAIN:
My horrible picture is up on their website now. For all the ladies wondering, that is how I look 8AM in the morning. I wake up with pajamas, shirt, tie, and cufflinks on.

Gere-ing Up

Filed under: Celiberals — Pat @ 1:47 am

I guess democracy is OK with the Hollywood Left, as long as it’s happening in Taiwan?

I really can’t figure out these people:

Expecting no more than light chit-chat about ballroom dancing, reporters in Tokyo were startled when actor Richard Gere launched into a condemnation of Europe’s plans to lift an arms embargo against China.

After promoting his new film “Shall We Dance?,” in which he co-stars with Jennifer Lopez, Gere grabbed a microphone to denounce plans by the European Union to lift the embargo imposed after China’s bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protests in 1989.

“I so agree with your prime minister that the European Union should not remove the ban against selling arms to China,” he said. “I agree with him totally.”

Gere’s comments Monday came a day after visiting French President Jacques Chirac tried to mollify Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi by saying that lifting the arms embargo would not result in an increase in weapons sales to China.

“They should not be rewarded for this anti-secession legislation that’s in now,” Gere said, referring to a new Chinese law that sanctions the use of force against Taiwan.

I totally agree with him. In fact, let me take this one step further…

To the people of Taiwan: Your years of rule under an oppressive, tyrannical Communist regime should come to an end as soon as possible. Revolt! March, protest, show your love for democracy!

I would love to see Taiwan join the list of newly blooming democracies.
