Where are Pat and Claudio?

Huh?!

People like this shouldn’t be allowed to speak on politics:

Belafonte used a Hitler analogy when asked about what impact prominent blacks such as former Secretary of State Powell and current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had on the Bush administration’s relations with minorities.

“Hitler had a lot of Jews high up in the hierarchy of the Third Reich. Color does not necessarily denote quality, content or value,” Belafonte said in an exclusive interview with Cybercast News Service.

“[If] a black is a tyrant, he is first and foremost a tyrant, then he incidentally is black. Bush is a tyrant and if he gathers around him black tyrants, they all have to be treated as they are being treated,” he added.

When asked specifically who was a “black tyrant” in the Bush administration, Belafonte responded to this reporter, “You.” When this reporter noted that he was a Caucasian and attempted to ask another question, Belafonte abruptly ended the interview by saying, “That’s it.”

Stick to making movies chump. (Hat tip: The Corner).

The Craziest in the World…

Filed under: News and Views, Celiberals — Claudio @ 8:22 am

The Paris City Hall has passed a resolution to never welcome Tom Cruise into their city:

Europe snubs Cruise

From: Agence France-Presse

Not welcome … Tom Cruise won’t be welcomed by Paris Town Hall / Reuters Advertisement:
IT seems Hollywood star Tom Cruise’s wacky behaviour is turning off more than his fans - whole cities are now declaring him persona non grata.

The Paris city hall has pledged “never to welcome” the actor to the city of love - all because of his membership of the Church of Scientology. Cruise and film director J.J. Abrams have also been banned from filming upcoming action flick Mission: Impossible 3 in the Vatican.

In a debate late yesterday, Paris’ Socialist-controlled municipal assembly approved a resolution “never to welcome Cruise, spokesman for Scientology and self-declared militant for this organisation”.

This is great - we can laugh at Tom Cruise for being an absolute IDIOT and the French for not doing something more important with their time, such as, say, fighting terrorism.

It Is Unfortunate

Katie Holmes has converted to Scientology.

If only she were a better actress (read: hotter) I might bemoan that the former Catholic is now a member of a brain-washing cult of institutional murder.

Robert Byrd, the KKK, and Obama

Filed under: News and Views, Conservatism, Celiberals, Rants — Claudio @ 6:40 am

Sen. Barack Obama’s favorite Ku Klux Klan leader has written a book. Hooray!

Let’s see. Who wants to bet that Sen. Robert Byrd (aka Exalted Cyclops Byrd) doesn’t have too many statements like these in the 770 pages:

He would never fight in the armed forces “with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels.”

What a patriot!

For a man who sees his leadership of the KKK as a youthful mistake (like presidential candidates smoking pot but not inhaling?) his record is kind of troubling:

Byrd’s Klan past became an issue again when he joined with other southern Democrats to oppose the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Byrd filibustered the bill for more than 14 hours as he argued that it abrogated principles of federalism. He criticized most anti-poverty programs except for food stamps. And in 1967, he voted against the nomination of Thurgood Marshall, the first black appointed to the Supreme Court.

Then he goes on TV (2001) and starts calling people white niggers. Smooth.

As Michelle Malkin wrote a couple of years back,

The ex-Klansman’s admirers praise his historical knowledge, mastery of procedural rules, and outspokenness. They refer to the Senate’s senior Democrat as the “conscience of the Senate.” They downplay his white-sheet-wearing days as a “brief mistake” — as if joining the Klan were like knocking over a glass of water. Oopsy.

I don’t know what is more frustrating…that Sen. Byrd hasn’t been run out of the Senate yet, or that new Senators (including the only Black senator around) are working hard to keep his racist behind there.

Obama has long lost any respect I might of had for him as a Black man doing big things.

I’ve probably had to read excerpts (I don’t believe in reading for class, so I also probably didn’t do it) from half of them:

Translation: Dean is an idiot.

Filed under: News and Views, Celiberals — Claudio @ 6:54 am

This is what two prominent Black congressmen had to say RE: Dean’s dumb diatribes:

As somebody who is a Christian myself, I don’t like it when people use religion to divide, whether that is Republican or Democrat. I think in terms of his role as party spokesman, [Dean] probably needs to be a little more careful and I suspect that is a message he is going to be getting from a number of us. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).

and,

I won’t have him down for me in Tennessee spending time on the campaign trail with me. Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN).

Glad to hear it.

Deep down, I know having the right to vote doesn’t mean crap to you. You’re white.

Thanks for the enlightenment, Dick Durbin.

The Dean-ism the MSM Keeps “Forgetting”

Filed under: News and Views, Celiberals — Claudio @ 6:49 am

The MSM has made it a point as of late to highlight the distancing of certain Democrats from loose-lips DNC Chair Dean. Fmr. Senator John Edwards and Sen. Joe Biden come to mind immediately.

The MSM has made the most offensive “Deanisms” his remarks on Republicans never having made an honest living and on Tom Delay belonging in jail.

But what about this one - early February:

You think the [Republican National Committee] could get this many people of color into a single room? Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there.

Or how about this one during the campaign period:

I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks. We can’t beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats.

In late October 2003, Al Sharpton alleged Dean was a racist. Now he is the Head-Dem-In-Charge.

And Republicans are supposed to be the racist old white guys, huh?

Riiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhttttttt.

Gere-ing Up

Filed under: Celiberals — Pat @ 1:47 am

I guess democracy is OK with the Hollywood Left, as long as it’s happening in Taiwan?

I really can’t figure out these people:

Expecting no more than light chit-chat about ballroom dancing, reporters in Tokyo were startled when actor Richard Gere launched into a condemnation of Europe’s plans to lift an arms embargo against China.

After promoting his new film “Shall We Dance?,” in which he co-stars with Jennifer Lopez, Gere grabbed a microphone to denounce plans by the European Union to lift the embargo imposed after China’s bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protests in 1989.

“I so agree with your prime minister that the European Union should not remove the ban against selling arms to China,” he said. “I agree with him totally.”

Gere’s comments Monday came a day after visiting French President Jacques Chirac tried to mollify Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi by saying that lifting the arms embargo would not result in an increase in weapons sales to China.

“They should not be rewarded for this anti-secession legislation that’s in now,” Gere said, referring to a new Chinese law that sanctions the use of force against Taiwan.

I totally agree with him. In fact, let me take this one step further…

To the people of Taiwan: Your years of rule under an oppressive, tyrannical Communist regime should come to an end as soon as possible. Revolt! March, protest, show your love for democracy!

I would love to see Taiwan join the list of newly blooming democracies.
